Warning - Spurious Phone Calls NOT from Australis
Some of our customers have received phone calls supposedly from their Internet Service Provider, telling them that they have a virus on their computer.
Typically the caller will then ask the person to switch their computer on.
The caller also has a strong Indian Accent
These are fake calls, & NOT from us.
Please record the number & advise us if you can capture it from your caller ID, & then hang up
We do receive reports from AISI, an Australian Governement agency, advising us if your service has been compromised, & we will let you know about these issues, by email, we will NOT phone you up. If you do get an email from us regarding a Compromised Service, it will contain details of your connection, so that you know it is from us, & normally we will recommend running the freely obtainable Malware Bytes software for removal of problem.
Typically these issues are related to a program which is sending unsolicited emails from your connection, not a virus.
& this will be negatively impacting on your adsl service.
The important thing to remember is that we are not calling you telling you that you have a virus. |

Optus has gone live with seven new 3G-enabled sites in New South Wales and Queensland on Friday, increasing the footprint of its 3G network across the country. In mid-July, Optus announced 2100MHz spectrum for 972 sites around Australia, to expand its 3G footprint in regional Australia, going head-to-head with Telstra's Next G network. The seven new sites are situated at Hervey Bay, Yarrawonga, Garbutt and Stockland Stadium in Queensland, with New South Wales getting Optus 3G access in Wagga Wagga, Forest Hill and Port Macquarie. Andrew Smith, director of Optus Mobile Network, said in a statement yesterday that 14 more sites will be sent live within the next week, which will enhance network services in Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, Toowoomba in Queensland and Bendigo in Victoria. |
