Email Guide: using Webmail

First login to your webmail account

Go www.australis.net & click on the webmail link

webmail1

Then login with your Email Address & Email Password

webmail2

You now have a number of options

webmail3

webmail_horde

Horde Mail – use this to read you email – it is one of three different styles we have available.

Horde includes calendar functions
webmail_sq

Squirrel Mail - – use this to read you email – it is one of three different styles we have available.

Squirrel Mail is one of the most common webmail clients

& the one most people are familiar with

webmail_rc

Roundcube – use this to read you email – it is one of three different styles we have available.

Is handy as it shows attachment sizes

Use which ever one you want to check your emails.

Don’t forget that each email address has a limited amount of space on the mailserver

If you are only accessing your emails by Webmail then please ensure that you delete emails no longer required

webmail_changepass

Change Password – lets you change your password (obviously)

A few notes on password security

NEVER use the first part of your email address as password

Always use a combination of letters & numbers

Try not to use dictionary words

Aim for 6 characters or more

webmail_fwd

Lets you forward emails from this address to another one, say a gmail or hotmail account.

Forwarding does not delete the email from this account, so be sure to periodically login & delete old emails

webmail_resp

Allows you to automatically respond to emails sent to this address. For example you might like to have a holiday message telling people when you will be answering emails again

webmail_client

Lets you generate a small file with auto configuration for common email clients. Also shows you configuration settings for incoming & outgoing mail servers. NOTE – some of this information may not work, as we are utilizing different outgoing mail servers to those defined

The email clients that can be auto configured are:

Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook 2000® for IMAP Access
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook 2000® for IMAP Access (SSL)
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook 2000® for POP3 Access
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook 2000® for POP3 Access (SSL)
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook Express® for IMAP Access
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook Express® for IMAP Access (SSL)
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook Express® for POP3 Access
Auto-Configure Microsoft Outlook Express® for POP3 Access (SSL)
Auto-Configure Mac Mail.app® for IMAP Access
Auto-Configure Mac Mail.app® for IMAP Access (SSL)

* Mac Mail IMAP Note: The "IMAP Path Prefix" needs to be set to INBOX otherwise Mail.app will not be able to store deleted, draft or sent mail on the server.

When accessing an email account through a desktop email application such as Outlook Express®, the email application will require specific information about that email account. You can use the auto-configure options below to attempt to automatically configure your email application. If the available options are not compatible with your application, you will need to use the Manual Settings information to configure the application.Note: IMAP email access coordinates between the server and you mail application. Messages that have been read/deleted/replied-to will show as read/deleted/replied-to both on the server and in the mail application. POP3 does not coordinate with the server. Messages marked as read/deleted/replied-to in the mail application will not show as read/deleted/replied-to on the server. This means that future downloads of your inbox or other mailboxes with POP3 will show all messages as unread.

You will be better off setting email accounts up manually
