Email Set up - Thunderbird v3

After you have installed Thunderbird check these settings

Click on Tools then Account Settings

If your email account has been set up incorrectly – say as an IMAP

- IT SHOULD BE POP

Then select the account & delete it

Then Select Account Actions – Add Mail Account

Then enter the info as shown below

Your Name

Your Email Address

Your Password

Tick remember Password & then continue

Then click STOP button on next screen

Then we need to add all the details

As follows

Incoming mail server – mail.australis.net

Type is POP

Port is 110

Security is none

Outgoing mail server – smtp.australisit.net

Type is smtp

Port is 25

Security is none

Then click Manual Setup button

You will see your new email address in the left hand column

We should check a few settings now to make sure its all OK

Click on Server Settings on left

The settings should be as per the image below

Click on Composition & Addressing

I like to set Start my Reply ABOVE the quote

Then check the outgoing server connections

Click on Outgoing server – smtp

Select the server (default) & click edit

Make sure it is set up as shown below

Click OK

& OK again

& you should be up & running
